Kaimug stands for authentic modern Thai food. In the last 10 years Kaimug Thai Restaurants became a great success story with over 20 restaurants in Germany.

The initial brief was to create a strong, modern logo for ‘Kaimug Take Away’ a small company with ambitions to grow. A visual identity with the potential to support a major brand.

I created a logotype with a clean but distinct typeface in combination with an elegant Asian floral-swirl. However, the core element of the logo is the diamond covered by the swirl. ‘Kaimug’ means pearl in Thai and the diamond stands for the pearl. The diamond pearl became and still is the core element of the whole visual identity.
I also created the branding guidlines including colour scheme and font usage, the packaging design and initial web design for Kaimug Thai Restaurants.

KAIMUG BOX is a sub-brand of Kaimug, the franchise concept for small food stalls with Thai food freshly prepared to take home.

The latest enterprise is KAIMUG LOUNGE a sub-brand with focus on food, music and cocktails.

The Oxford Companion to Wine is a comprehensive, renowned reference book about wine with more than 4000 entries. First published in 1994 to worldwide acclaim, the first edition of Jancis Robinson’s seminal volume immediately attained legendary status.

The design brief for this fully revised 4th edition was to revitalize the significance of the book in a complete relaunch with new cover and interior design. The design needed to reflect its outstanding importance in the wine market.

I created a bold, yet elegant, contemporary, yet authoritative cover design to underline its significance in the world of wine and to pay credit to its heritage.
The well-structured, clear, but unobtrusive typography of the interior design is broken up by full colour plates and illustrations. Despite the fact that this is a still comprehensive reference work, the new interior design makes it much more accessible to a broader audience.

The CONCENTRATE book series is a comprehensive study guide for law students. A well established and highly regarded product on the educational market.

The brief was a complete redesign of the cover and interior for the whole book series. Firstly the dated design needed a facelift with new fonts and colours. Additionally annotations in the margin needed a clever and clear design. Above all the aim was to make the highly complex content more accessible and appealing.

I gave the interior design a very clear visual structure and added distinctive features and a slick, clean set of icons. The bright colour palette guarantees a strong appearance on the market and most importantly helps the user to navigate and understand the text.

I really enjoyed the detailed typographical attention that was needed in this task. I never thought it can be so much fun to work on a law study guide.

Protevan develops and designs interior van conversions both for commercial and leisure purposes. Core principles of the product are quality, precision, reliability and versatility. It was these values that needed to shine through with the logo design and whole branding.

The unique shape of the letter ‘p’ refers to the plug-in philosophy of the product and gives the typeface its distinctive shape.

Dynamic identity: Another core principle of the product is its modular character. The logotype works as a toolbox for the visual language of the brand. Like a jigsaw it can be put together in endless different ways.

Studiosus is Europe’s number one cultural tour operator. High-quality tours and well thought-out programs ensure Studiosus has continued to be the market leader for many years. Founded in 1954, Studiosus develops and organizes over 1.000 trips to over 100 countries every year.

The ambitious task was to update and redesign the logotype of this long-established company.
The brief was to create a modern, still classic, authoritative logotype that was less bold and bulky, but more elegant and organic. Still, it had to be strong and confident enough to claim its premium position in the tourism market.

To achieve these goals I removed the italic alignment and merged a modern non-serif with a classic serif font. Then I created a new semi-serif typeface that represents the values and characteristics of this company. The extensive project took many months and multiple revision rounds. The new typeface has been in use for over ten years now.

The brief was to create a logo that reflects the versatility, creativity and significance of the event.

I focused on the initials MCBW and created a unique, strong and dynamic logotype representing a stage where the events take place.
Its dynamic 3d shape facilitates versatile applications on different media platforms not least as actual object in the room.
Another important requirement: the logo has to work as the consistent core element of the brand in an annually updated visual environment.
